Bursary window re-opened for Kenhardt students

Matriculants from the class of 2020 as well as students already studying have an opportunity once
again to apply for tertiary bursary funding for this academic year. The closing date has been
extended to end of April 2021 and is available for various degrees, certificates or TVET college
courses for students from Kenhardt.
As part of Aries Solar Power’s economic development programme, the Globeleq Scholarship Fund,
aims to develop skills needed for the renewable energy industry and long-term sustainability of the
communities such as Kenhardt.
The 2021 academic year bursaries have been promoted at Kenhardt High School and within the Kai
!Garib Municipality.  The primary stipulation is that applicants must live within 50km from the Aries
Solar Power Plant, which is located just outside of Kenhardt.
We are hoping that young people take up the opportunity to study further, which will ultimately
impact the greater community, as tertiary education can effectively increase the local skills pool, ”
said Tsholofelo MooteJunior Economic Development Associate at Aries Solar Power.
Bursary beneficiaries receive tuition fees, travel and accommodation costs, book allowances and
even a stipend.

Previous bursary beneficiary, Eric Cloete, who was a learner at Kenhardt High School, is fulfilling his
dream as a teacher thanks to the bursary programme. He is a positive example of how qualified
students return home to the town of Kenhardt, and plough their skills back into this community.
The Aries Solar Power Bursary programme has already benefited many local community learners
who are now studying at tertiary institutions including University of Stellenbosch; University of
Western Cape; University of Pretoria; University of Free State; Cape Peninsula University of
Technology; and Hugenote College
