Many restaurants were hit hard by the lengthy national Covid-19 lockdown, some were even forced to shut down. To salvage the situation, non-profit, The Restaurant Rescue Project, founded by wine entrepreneur, Alex Dale has offered to help several businesses in the Western Cape.
The project has donated than R5-million to help the 20 independently owned, as well as family-owned restaurants, have not been able to balance their books this past couple of months. Despite the generous donation, many eateries are still battling to find their feet with many being concerned about how they will keep them open.
