10,000 houses to be built for the less privileged


Nigeria Federal and the Ogun State Government have partnered in building 10,000 houses for the less privileged. The efforts are aimed at addressing housing deficit in the country.

While addressing the issue at the 3rd Annual General Meeting of the Gateway Mortgage Bank GMB at the Mitros Hall, Abeokuta, Governor Dapo Abiodun stated that housing delivery plays a critical role in a country’s welfare, as it directly influences not only the citizenry, but also the performance of other sectors of the economy.

 The study carried out by the government officials showed that decent and affordable accommodation was the right of the people but most people failed to have decent homes as rental prices were very high with most people unable to afford.

 The project will also create employment for many jobless youth set to help carry out the project efficiently amid the pandemic

While urging the management of the bank, the governor said: “l urge management to provide unique and excellent mortgage finance services to its customers by bringing to bear their managerial acumen  by collaborating and making the aspirations a win-win situation for their investors and customers. The opening of a new branch in Sagamu will spread development across the state.”
