Head of CSI at Investec ,Setlogane Manchidi, has put his 15 years of Coporate Social Investment experience on paper to help share the essential aspects of CSI and articulate his approach to an effective CSI strategy.
The official book launch of ‘Corporate Social Investment – A guide to creating a meaningful legacy’ started off with an enlightening speech from Trialogue Director Cathy Duff, who spoke highly about Manchidi’s willingness to collaborate with competitors when assessing the impact of his strategies in the various communities he works within.
“Setlogane is the only client of ours who invites everyone from the finance industry to come and listen when we offer him  consultation or feedback on an initiative. This demonstrates his willingness to collaborate and conversate across the board to move the country forward and this book will inspire more people to do that” said Duff
Investec’s CSI strategy has been centered around creating  opportunities for young people to become active participants in society for the past 15 years. The department hosts a number of initiatives ranging from, high school phase , moving to tertiary education and continuing through to young adult learning and entrepreneurship activities.
The strategy manifests itself in the three stages of personal learning and growth. This unique strategy is partly what informed the new book noted Manchidi , the other parts were informed by his Masters research and his passion for the CSI space.
“Everybody in attendance tonight has played an important role in the formation of this book. The CSI space is a genuine passion of mine. This book looks at the important questions one needs to ask when corporates are evaluating their impact. ” added Manchidi
Through the  book, Manchidi reminds us of the significance of a carefully considered CSI strategy and approach, especially in a country such as South Africa with many socio-economic challenges that continue to impact negatively on ordinary people’s day-to-day lives.
