e² Young Engineers, a company that provides educational enrichment programs, recently launched the YESA Foundation. The foundation is a non-for-profit organization that will focus on bringing theoretical knowledge and practical implementation in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) basics to children from disadvantaged backgrounds.
The launch of the foundation was inspired by the company’s long standing focus on the future generation of engineers and scientists, particularly within the field of edutainment which combines both education and entertainment to attain the best results from the learners. However, the essence of the edutainment method is also based on theoretical studies, research and statistical tests that work to establish engaging educational solutions at the early stages of cognitive development.
Through the YESA Foundation, children from different communities will have the opportunity to participate in the Young Engineers programs. The YESA Foundation will identify communities, schools, and children throughout South Africa who will benefit from the Young Engineers programs.
Riana van der Westhuizen, founder, and director at YESA Foundation commented, “We are excited to launch the Foundation – it has been a dream come true since Young Engineers launched in South Africa in 2014. I believe every child in South Africa should have the opportunity to get exposed to a better education which will build a better future for our country.”
The YESA Foundation will negotiate Corporate involvement on a National level to assist with the funding required to roll out the Young Engineers programs in disadvantaged areas in South Africa, as well as children with special needs.
A Number of National projects will be launched by the YESA Foundation which will be maintained and supported by established Young Engineers Franchises Nationwide.
In Addition to this, e² Young Engineers will appoint and train Instructors in each community which will also contribute to the upliftment of the community in the area. The YESA Foundation goal is to initiate at least 30 projects in the first quarter of 2018.
